2010 Olympic Torch Passes Through MillbrookStory and Photos by Cheryl Fritz, Communications Officer On Wednesday, November 18, 2009, the 2010 Olympic Torch made it's way through Millbrook First Nation! Millbrook's own Brittany Stephens was selected as the official Torchbearer for Millbrook. Brittany ran with the Olympic Flame into the Glooscap Heritage Centre at approximately 7:40 am. A brief Ceremony was held at the Centre where Elder Madeline Martin blessed the flame. It was truly a historical event! The event was well attended and a proud moment for Millbrook First Nation! Earlier that morning around 7:00am , Chief Lawrence Paul, who was selected by RBC as an Olympic Torchbearer, carried the Torch from Lorne. St. to The Truro Daily News Building on Queen St. in Truro. Residents of Colchester County and Millbrook First Nation came out to cheer on the torchbearers as the Olympic Flame makes its journey to Vancouver where it will be lit on February 12, 2010 signaling the start of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
